Brazil sets up committee to assess impact of U.S. tariffs and discuss countermeasures
Odaily News According to CCTV News, on the 14th local time, Brazil established the Negotiation and Economic and Trade Countermeasures Committee to assess the possible impact of US President Trumps announcement of a 50% tariff on Brazil on the countrys economy and discuss potential countermeasures. Brazilian Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry and Trade Alckmin said at a press conference on the 14th that the committee will hold two meetings with the industrial and agricultural departments on the 15th local time. Alckmin said that conducting extensive dialogue with exporters is the first step for the Brazilian government to deal with the Trump administrations tariff policy. He said that if the US tariff policy takes effect, Brazil will take countermeasures. The committee is chaired by Alckmin. Brazilian President Lula will also meet with some entrepreneurs through this committee.
